What is being Pagan to you, have you asked yourself?

So we are all familiar with the term "Pagan" and how it is used in modern times, many of us even describe ourselves as such, or heathen, druid, Hellenic etc.

The definition of the word itself has been debated among many people, from country folk, to godless folk, or anything pre-Christian era.

I try to ask myself this often, as a reminder as to why I practice the way I do, or believe what I do. To bring a modern understanding and meaning to the term pagan. I tend to use it in the sense that I believe in animism, the land spirits, the real world around us, it is truly magical. How the earth works perfectly in sync with its inhabitants, modern issues aside, from providing an atmosphere, water, food, natural medicine and more.

When you look at modern science and breakdown how we are made of the same materials as those on the earth it makes you wonder, or maybe it does not. For me, that spells out we are one and the same. We are nature.

Do you follow a specific pagan path because someone suggested it? Did you find a connection? Is it because its easier in some ways if there exists written text?

Many different cultures across various pagan groups have many similarities, these being gods of the earth, the sun, the moon, water, air, etc. If we strip away those titles and themes, we had the bodies that without, we would not have life. Things seem to well placed to sustain them to be an accident. My story personally involves a very dark path down the road of "learning to much" for lack of a better term I would say, that brought me back to our roots, but this story is not about me this time.

If we stripped away all modern things we could live, we have done it. The earth provides. Though many 21st and earlier century technology has been amazing and saved lives, we are just as capable as animals without it. Because we are nature, we are one.

I may tell my story one day to further expand on my mindset and beliefs on this, and how I am very drawn to Norse Paganism, and still a bit of druidry if I am honest. Todays post is just to see if you can ask yourself questions, and have the answers, if you dont that is fine too! Its all a journey within ourselves and through this world for now.

If you want to share anything feel free too!

This was my thought, even back when I claimed to be christian. Almost every major belief system ever has been connected in some way to nature. Whether this was just some primitive part of our being trying to make sense of a harsh world or if we really are connected in some metaphysical way, I'm not sure. But I have always felt a connection to this earth, nature, and the elements that bind us all. Even in this modern age where I once made a career off of technology it was a sort of funny thing to say at the time, but if all of the internet, computers, and such were to go away I would be my happiest. Now…
