Found at numerous ancient hof sites, Norway has dozens of white, large, and clearly phallic stones that may have been part of ancient worship of Njörðr, Freyr, and Oðin. Mostly discussed in German archaeology academic reports, it’s interesting that these haven’t been reported much outside of Norway. Some argue ties to Freyr and Njörðr due to their clear ties to fertility cults. But some evidence suggests ties to the ecstatic side of Oðin, considering his association with death, sacrifice and seiðr. Hopefully we will learn more with future archaeology work in the area.
